Everclear Chicago reviews
Fine for What It Is
It was a pretty safe bet a couple of decades ago that Art Alexakis's already-hoarse voice probably wouldn't stand the test of time. Sure enough, it really hasn't, though that doesn't mean that he's still not a fun showman or that his band Everclear (with no original members other than himself) still sounds great. The show was a good time, a nice walk down memory lane. None of the bands really tried to hard to push any new material, instead pretty much just sticking with the hits.
The biggest surprise to me was that Ed Kowalczyk no longer sings for Live - I found out the day of the show!! A few people near me were also really disappointed. The new guy is actually pretty good, and the rest of the band sounded good too.
Filter and Sponge were both entertaining as well. In all, nothing spectacular, but a fun time if you want to take a trip back into the '90s for a few hours.
